Ways to Give
General Donations and DAC HigherGround Capital Campaign
Your gift makes a difference in the lives of all those who learn, train, work, play, recreate, advocate, create, and dream at our center. There are many ways to invest in the Disability Action Center (DAC), all of which will benefit our clients, their families, and our community. You may also make a designated gift to the DAC #Higherground Building Fund. Your gift to the #Higherground Fund gift will make a significant impact towards the construction of the DAC-Wilfong Wellness Center and to promote health equity throughout our community.
Cash and Credit Card
A gift of cash remains the simplest and most straightforward way to contribute. Your personal or corporate gift is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Donations are accepted via PayPal under the donate tab on the website. Cash and credit card gifts can be one-time or recurring.
Matching Gifts
Many companies provide matching gift programs that multiply their employees’ charitable donations. If you or your spouse are employed by a matching gift company, your contribution to the Disability Action Center could be significantly increased. Matching gifts are designated to the same fund as the donor’s original gift. Gifts matched by an employer count toward the achievement of giving levels for the donor.
To obtain a matching gift from your employer, contact your human resources department. Complete the donor/employee part of the form and send it with your contribution to the Disability Action Center.
Securities and Real Estate
Giving shares of stock or real estate may provide additional tax benefits. Generally, an income tax deduction may be taken for the full market value of an appreciated asset with no capital gains tax due. Depreciated assets sold for a loss can be gifted as a cash contribution resulting in capital loss and a charitable contribution. A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from an IRA is also accepted and avoids income tax to the donor.
Planned Gifts and Bequests
Planned gifts – or legacy gifts – are a method of donation during life or in death as part of the donors will or estate plan. Planned gifts can be made through bequest, charitable gift annuity, or IRA charitable rollover.
Gifts in Kind
Also referred to as in-kind donations, gifts in kind provide materials, goods, or services needed in development and construction that would otherwise be required for the Disability Action Center to purchase. Typically, the value of the donated materials, goods, or service may be recorded by the donor as the amount that our organization would have to pay for similar items/services.
DAC Education and Resource Fund (Your Community Foundation Endowed Fund)
Donations to the DAC Education and Resource and Endowment Fund will provide grants and funding for education, scholarships and resources for individuals with disabilities for years to come.
