GO! (Get Outdoors) March 13th:

The DAC’s very popular GO! (Get Outdoors) Program will continue in 2024 as our way to increase the recreational, social, and fitness opportunities available to individuals with disabilities in Marion County.

NOTE: YOU MUST REGISTER IN ADVANCE FOR ALL GO ACTIVITIES. SPACE AND TRAVEL IS LIMITED. ADDITIONAL PARTICIPANTS MUST PROVIDE THEIR OWN TRANSPORTATION. PLEASE CALL AND RESERVE YOUR SPOT!

NEW Program: FREE SPACE
Wednesdays 10-11:30 a.m.

Our Wednesday mornings are getting a makeover! Just like the middle of a BINGO card, our Wednesday mornings are your FREE SPACE to access DAC assistive technologies, resources, and games. FREE SPACE is self-directed, non-instructional time for clients and families to take advantage of the vast library of educational and fun activities already available at the center.

NEW Program: Ask Me Anything!
“Managing the Money”
March 15, 2024    10 a.m. to 12 noon

In response to our program needs survey in the Fall of 2023, the DAC is implementing the new “Ask Me Anything” series for families. These interactive sessions are an open forum for parents and caretakers to ask those important questions to both DAC staff and to other parents and caretakers who may be experiencing the same challenges. The March Ask My Anything session will take an in depth look at the various funding sources/monetary benefits for individuals with disabilities, income limits, and responsibilities that come with managing the finances.

DAC Talent Show
April 12th, 2024 5-7 p.m.

Back by very popular demand is the DAC Talent Show…a chance to show off the amazing abilities of our members, friends, and staff! Sign-ups are open now and DAC staff are available to help you prepare for the big show!

A partnership of the DAC and Homestead Farm Center
The DAC and HFC are pleased to continue the very successful Full STEM Ahead and Creative Arts classes that include:

  • NEW: Make it Mondays: March: Portrait Patchwork  April: Print Making
  • Tuesday STEAM: March: Safety First   April: Math Fun
  • Try This Thursday (TTT): March: Creative Dramatics  April: Best Life

All Morning Enrichment program will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. and will be held in 1-month blocks. Please plan to attend the entire monthly session from the start. Check the calendar for full details and descriptions of classes.

DAC SUB SALE
April 18 and 19, 2024
8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

It’s time again for our Semi-Annual Sub Sale! Order forms will be available on our website and at the DAC front desk.

Our goal is to surpass the 2,000 Sub Mark and make a comeback from last year! We Can Do It!

Volunteers are also needed on April 18th and 19th to prepare for the sale, make the subs, deliver the subs, and help out in any way possible.

Most of all we need to SELL THOSE SUBS!

DAC Basket Bingo
May 19, 2024     12 noon to 4 p.m.
Knights of Columbus

Tickets for our Annual Basket Bingo will be available in March. Liz is working hard already on preparing some amazing baskets and prizes for this fundraiser. Donations and volunteers are always appreciated.

HFC RURAL Program

RURAL has expanded to a 6-month education and training program at the Homestead Farm Center. Applications for new farm trainees will be available March 1, 2024 and must be returned by April 30, 2024. The program will begin on Fridays in April 2024 for returning farm trainees. NEW trainees will start with the summer program in June.

DAC/Mallamo Golf Tournament
June 7, 2024    9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Volunteers, Golf Tournament Sponsors, and of course golfers are needed to participate in this year’s tournament. This tournament is one of our largest fundraisers and the longest standing Golf Tournament in Marion County. If you are interested in being a part of the tournament, please contact Julie at the Center at (304) 366-3213.

Camp CAN-DO DAC Summer Olympics:
July 22-26, 2024    9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Camp Details and registration will be released in early Summer.
