MARK YOUR CALENDARS-DAC CLOSED FOR CLASSES
July 29 to AUGUST 1, 2019

The DAC will be CLOSED for regularly scheduled programming to focus on the CEO 2.0 Summit in partnership with the WV Division of Rehabilitation (WVDRS). This week-long workshop is open to eligible registrants as approved by WVDRS for Pre-Employment Training Services. Youth must be age 14-21 and enrolled in school to participate.

We hope you will take this time off from DAC programs to recover from a super busy of Camp CAN-DO and spend time with your families. Classes will return to a normal schedule on August 5th.

July 10, 2019 1-3 p.m. Splash Pad and Palatine Park
August 14, 2019: 12-3 Picnic and trail walk Prickett’s Fort
August 22, 2019: 10-3 p.m. Rock Lake End of Summer Picnic
August 28, 2019: Make up Day for Rock Lake in the event of rain on August 22nd.
(Stay tuned for new dates/activities each month through Fall)

   Friday Night Outs-July and August 2019

The Friday Night in July will be a held on July 12th from 6-8 p.m. at the DAC. The People First of Marion County will be hosting the event!
Major Solutions (Courtney and AJ) will be sponsoring the Friday Night Out on August 16th, from 6-8 p.m. We will have an end of summer picnic with all the fixins and fun.

 RURAL Program/Homestead Farm Center
June 11 to August 15, 2019.

The program is pleased to have 10 participants for the 12 week program. Congratulations to Ryan Nay, Melody Simmons, and Mark Doll for being chosen as RURAL Apprentices, returning from last year with increased leadership responsibilities. Farm trainees include Joey Curtis, Eric Merrifield, Cory Conrad, Tommy Preston, Dominic Garcia, Isaiah Burns, David Muse.

General Membership Board Meeting
July 22, 2019      5 p.m.

All Members are invited to attend our Semi-Annual General Membership Board Meeting on July 22nd. Light meal will be provided at 5 p.m. with the meeting starting directly after. Your voice and participation are appreciated and we encourage you to be a part of this meeting!

 DAC Summer Camp CAN-DO
July 22-26, 2019 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 

This year’s Camp Theme is THE HERO IN YOU!
A full schedule of activities and registration is available at the DAC and at disabilityactioncenter.com.
Please call or come in the center to Pre-Register.

The week-long camp will challenge campers to discover more about their own super powers by trying new and exciting things. We have a variety of onsite and offsite activities planned including a field trip to Homestead Farm Center, Boy Scouts Camps, and swimming of course!
Other great activities include crafts, cooking, recreation, more.

Cost will be $5.00 per day for DAC members and $10.00 per day for non-members.

                  Hot Dog Give-Away, Bake Sale and Open House
August 3, 2
019      9 a.m. -1 p.m.

DAC is hosting an Open House and Bake Sale to mark the end of summer and to thank the community for their support.
We will also be giving away FREE HOTDOGS: Yes we are giving away hotdogs to our members and the community to say THANK YOU! for supporting us throughout the year. Baked goods, side dishes, and other DAC apparel and goodies will be available for SALE!

Our friends from the Homestead Farm Center and RURAL Program will have produce and farm products for sale and a petting zoo on site. Please come out and support the DAC anyway you can! Volunteers are needed to prepare and work the event, bring baked goods or other treats and to celebrate our accomplishments and what we mean to this community.
