GO! (Get Outdoors)

The DAC’s very popular GO! (Get Outdoors) Program will continue in 2023 as our way to increase the recreational, social, and fitness opportunities available to individuals with disabilities in Marion County. We do hope to return to many of our favorite off-site GO! events in 2023 including swimming, Palatine Park activities and concerts, field trips, sporting events, farmer’s markets, and other activities that get us up and moving.

NOTE: YOU MUST REGISTER IN ADVANCE FOR ALL GO ACTIVITIES. SPACE AND TRAVEL IS LIMITED. ADDITIONAL PARTICIPANTS MUST PROVIDE THEIR OWN TRANSPORTATION. PLEASE CALL AND RESERVE YOUR SPOT!

Friday Nights Out
March 17th, 2023 5-6 p.m. (St. Paddy’s Theme)
April 14th, 2023 5-6 p.m. (Talent Show)

Friday Nights Out continue this Spring with favorites…St. Paddy’s day theme in March and the DAC Talent Show in April. Both eat in and take out options are available and RSVP are requested. The FNO are a great opportunity to bring a new friend and enjoy fellowship with other DAC members and families.

DAC Women ROAR Mini-Retreat

Our first ever Women’s Mini Retreat is an opportunity to bring together the ladies of our center to learn more about how we can focus on our health and support one another in living our best lives. The interactive workshop setting will feature guest speakers, exercises of mindfulness and yoga, low impact activities to improve your health, and a healthy meal.
Registration is open to all DAC clients, family members, volunteers, board members and caregivers. You are encouraged to bring a friend for this one of a kind workshop. Call the center to register today!

DAC Easter Egg Hunt April 8, 2023
LIFE United Methodist Church
11 p.m. Registration and Snack   12 p.m. Egg Hunt

We will be holding the annual Easter Egg Hunt for Children of All Abilities on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at LIFE United Methodist Church, 3000 Technology Dr. in Fairmont.
 We ask that you join us for refreshments provided by Woodman of the World and registration at 11 a.m. and the Egg Hunt will begin at 12 noon.

We are sure to have a visit from the Easter Bunny and there will be plenty of refreshments and prizes for those in attendance.

A partnership of the DAC and Homestead Farm Center
The DAC and HFC are pleased to continue the very successful Full STEM Ahead and Creative Arts classes that include:

  • NEW: Make it Mondays: March and April: Clay Creations & Print Making
  • Tuesday STEM: March: Microbiology   April: Math Fun
  • Try This Thursday (TTT): March: Creative Dramatics  April: Board Game Mania

All Morning Enrichment program will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. and will be held in 1-month blocks. Please plan to attend the entire monthly session from the start.

DAC SUB SALE
April 20 and 21, 2023
8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

It’s time again for our Semi-Annual Sub Sale!

Please see the enclosed order form for more details!

Our goal is to surpass the 2,000 Sub Mark and make a comeback from last year! We Can Do It!

Volunteers are also needed on April 20th and 21st to prepare for the sale, make the subs, deliver the subs, and help out in any way possible.

Most of all we need to SELL THOSE SUBS!

DAC Basket Bingo
May 21, 2023     11 a.m.to 4 p.m.
Knights of Columbus

Tickets for our Annual Basket Bingo will be available in March. Liz is working hard already on preparing some amazing baskets and prizes for this fundraiser. Donations and volunteers are always appreciated.

RURAL Program
 
RURAL is expanding to a 6-month education and training program at the Homestead Farm Center. Applications for new farm trainees will be available March 1, 2023 and must be returned by March 24, 2023. The program will begin on Fridays in April 2023. Please contact Ann Burns for more information.

DAC/Mallamo Golf Tournament
June 9, 2023    9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Volunteers, Golf Tournament Sponsors, and of course golfers are needed to participate in this year’s tournament. This tournament is one of our largest fundraisers and the longest standing Golf Tournament in Marion County. If you are interested in being a part of the tournament, please contact Julie at the Center at (304) 366-3213 or Jimmy Hess at (304) 838-0571.

Outwit, Outlast, Outplay

July 24-29, 2023    9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Camp Details and Registration will be released in early Summer
